Ava Duvernay and David Oyelowo Join Forces Again
Following last week’s premiere of ‘Selma’ in London, Ava DuVernay has spoken on the disappointment to many -including myself- that she did not receive an Oscar nomination for Best Director. She’s said that she never believed she would receive the nomination because her chances were remote from the get go. She also expressed her disappointment that David Oyelowo was over looked for the nomination for Best Actor, but understands the nature of the status quo in Hollywood.
Well moving forward, DuVernay as announced she will yet again team up with Oyelowo for the third time since ‘Middle of Nowhere’ and of course ‘Selma’. The new project which is still in the early stages is a love story and murder mystery film, set during hurricane Katrina.
DuVernay will write, produce and direct the project, whilst Oyelowo will put his acting expertise to good use as well as producing the film alongside her. According to Miss DuVernay the story will portray the “complexities of intimate relationships within times of chaos, while also examining the chaos itself.”
I don’t know about you, but this all sounds interesting. Could this be a long lasting career filmmaking duo? It’s always nice to have a bit of consistency in business.
Lots of information still yet to be given, the film is yet to be titled and the plot hasn’t been given up, but I’m sure we all have curious minds.
