Are We Rating… Sevyn Streeter and Luke James ‘Nothing Even Matters’?

Neither of these two R&B crooners are newbies to music but Valentines Day happened to be the gift that kept on giving and the two teamed up to recreate their version of a 90’s classic duet by Lauryn Hill and D’Angelo, Nothing Even Matters.

As one of the biggest fans of Lauryn Hill myself I was nervous about what I was about to hear, nevertheless intrigued. Not that I don’t think they are talented but because I am aware of the direction of R&B music today. However I’ll eat my hat, after hearing it I wasn’t disappointed, it will obviously never beat the original version in my opinion but it’s such a beautiful rendition.

Sevyn Streeter and Luke James have kept their version of the song simple and soulful, showing off their vocal abilities by adding their own runs and harmonies for a different touch.

Sevyn has just finished her Girl Disrupted Tour but you can catch Luke in BET’s The New Edition Story as Johnny Gill.
